Brazilian ship operator Vale SA took delivery of "Vale Brasil" from South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. With a capacity to transport 400,000 tons and length of 362 meters, the “Vale Brasil” is the largest ore carrier in the world, as Vale states. The vessel is part of an order for seven ships from the Korean shipyard.
"Vale Brasil" can load 400,000 tons ore per voyage in seven holds. With main engines of an output of totally 25,000 kW the vessel can reach a speed of appr. 15 knots.
