Eco Factor: Concept ship designed to be powered by solar and wind energy.
Ships with their massive engines are one of the biggest polluters on the planet. However, being an important way to travel across continents or to ship goods that are too heavy for all other forms of transportation, ships do need to go green. Industrial designer Nicolas Souliman is trying to give the shipping world what they’ve always longed for – a ship powered by clean energy.
This mega-liner, dubbed “Asgard,” harnesses solar energy to run a Stirling engine, which further is supported by a wind harnessing sail system. The 156m- long ship is designed to ferry about 800 passengers comfortably across the oceans.
The ship presents other dynamic activities such as mini-submersible parasailing, which will definitely attract adventurous sailors to this mega-ship. For entertainment, the ship includes a concert hall where live shows can be performed, and the ship’s large windows give a mesmerizing view of the sea life.
