Pacific Drilling S.A., Luxembourg, announced that it has received delivery of its newest drillship, the "Pacific Mistral" of Samsung 10000 double hull design from Samsung Heavy Industries.
The "Pacific Mistral" of 228 m length and 42 m breadth can operate in water depths of over 3,000 m and drill wells of up to appr. 10,000 m total depth. The rig classified by ABS features technologically advanced equipment that allows customers to improve drilling efficiency, including offline handling capabilities.
In addition to the three ultra-deepwater drillships delivered to date, Pacific Drilling expects delivery of an additional drillship in August 2011 and has two drillships on order at Samsung for delivery during 2013.
