Aluminium ferry for Singapore delivered

The delivery Sea Hawk completes a two boat contract with Tian San Shipping in Singapore.

Designed by Mark Ellis Marine Design in Australia, the all aluminium vessels feature triple engines and shafts, turning three conventional propellers. The ferries are built to Bureau Veritas class.

28 metres long and 7.10m wide, "Sea Hawk" can carry 158 passengers on the main deck, with a further 42 on the upper deck for a total of 200. Cheoy Lee also offers this design at a length of 32 metres, with a passenger capacity of around 300. Boarding is via recessed entrances amidships on the main deck, and via a wide internal stair to the upper deck. The wheelhouse is elevated, and ahead of the upper saloon, with good all-round visibility, including aft.

Propulsion is by three Caterpillar C32 diesels. The engine room is long and spacious, forward of which is the tank space. 5,000 litres of diesel is stored in one, horizontally mounted, cylindrical tank. The steering gear compartment is aft of the engine room, with the remainder of the lower deck compartments void, separated by five watertight bulkheads. As per yard, "Sea Hawk" is capable of running at 26 knots, fully loaded with passengers and fuel. The passenger compartment is quiet, bright and comfortable.
